Banned Book Week 2009

Banned Book Week 2009, "Celebrate Your Freedom to Read" is the 28th annual celebration of the freedom to read. The freedom to read and to select from a wide array of possibilities is grounded in the First Amendment where the freedom of speech and freedom of the press is also guaranteed.

Even if well-intentioned, censors try to limit the freedom of others to choose what they "read, speak or hear." The complete list of challenges and the reasons can be found at http://www.ala.org/bbooks.
